I think people use white noise in different ways but I mainly use it to help with sleep. If I get waken up by a sound when I’m in bed, I find it very difficult to fall sleep afterwards in a way I can’t explain. Listening to some noise at that time helps a lot. It also helps when I feel awake in bed at night and would get irritated otherwise. I usually pick the color I like, gray, brown or pink. I first saw Metiq in F-Droid’s home screen feed. I can’t say how it compares to other apps since I don’t really want to spend my energy researching that. But I haven’t gotten motivation to use a different one. I like its simple visuals and controls. They’re enough for me. I might appreciate being able to use the app from lock screen but I don’t have strong push for it.
